Your Priorities

From Luke 12:34

“34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

This is one of those verses where I exclaim ‘ballgame’, because the outcome is so clear. Where you invest your time and treasure is the clearest demonstration of where your priorities are at. It’s an interesting exercise, what are the top three things that you invest in. Is God one of them?

Let us pray….Lord, thank you for all that you provide. You gave up your perfect Son so that imperfect sinners could be set free. What an unbelievable sacrifice on our behalf. Father we focus on matters of this world when our highest priority should be the relationship that we have with you. Your clearest commandment is that we put no other god or idol ahead of you. May we not long for more likes on Facebook or Instagram. May we not focus on focus first on our hobbies. May we not put the needs of others ahead of our time to give you thanks and ask for intercession. All good things originate from you, and if you are the highest priority in our lives all other things will fall into place. We give you all the glory, and all the thanks. In the sweet name of Jesus. Amen

Lean on Others

From 2 Thessalonians 1:3

“3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.”

In the face of trouble, your friends and family within the church body are such a powerful source of comfort. We are truly stronger together and faith makes our love for one another grow stronger!

Let us pray that we grow stronger as a church body. Father you are the head of this Body, and we praise you in all of your glory. Lord we ask that you strengthen us as a group because many are greater than one. Let us raise up and minister to our brothers and sisters in their time of need. All wisdom and truth come from You, let that wisdom flow through us when called upon by other members of the Body. One of your many gifts is fellowship and the ability to lean on those around us. Thank you so much for the people around us! Amen.

Let’s Tackle Sin

From 1 Corinthians 10:13

“13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

As sad as it is, it’s easier to sin than to not. Sin often times is the easier of two options. It is often times the option that feels better in this Earthly domain. However, sin draws you further away from God which is not what He wants. So we have options!

Let us pray that we see the way out, and chose it in earnest. Lord, this world is full of temptation. This flesh frequently desires greed, gluttony, and pleasure. We ask that you keep our eyes open to the options that you put before us to not take that path. The short term pleasure that sin brings is not worth putting at risk our eternal inheritance. You protect us, but we must first take the step in seeing the Godly path that you have offered. We throw ourselves humbly at your feet and ask that you intercede and put us on that path. Amen.

How do we Achieve?

From Proverbs 16:9

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

You should know that the author of this page is a Christian first, but very much an athlete second…So goal setting (planning) is something I do all the time! Our plans though, as we know, are set in motion by God.

Let us pray for God’s favor in all of our plans. Father, we love that you gave us free will to develop our own plans. We have these intentions, and goals we ask that they be developed for the purposes of giving you glory and helping our brothers and sisters inside the Body. If there are those among us who endeavor to seek athletic goals, may you be with them and keep them healthy and safe. Many athletes use sport as a means to relieve stress so that they may serve you better outside their gyms and fitness facilities. Upon achieving our goals, let us be mindful that you are the one setting the steps. In Jesus we pray. Amen.

Faith is Beautiful

From 1 Peter 1 8:9

“8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

Is there greater joy than that of knowing that through faith in Christ you can have salvation?  Earlier in the passage grief and trials are talked about, and that they prove the resolve of your faith.  This faith is explained to be worth more than gold because even gold melts under fire.

Let us pray for faith that cannot be shaken.  Father, we are so very thankful for all of your wonderful gifts.  We are especially thankful for your love and care because as sinners it is more than we deserve.  Lord strengthen our faith because we live in a fallen world that is all too often designed to chip away at that faith.  We know not the purpose of the grief and trials that you put before us.  However, your plan is beautiful and has purpose in all its components.  Keep our body faithful, so that we are ready to serve with passion and zeal.  In the precious name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

Hello and Welcome!

I thought it appropriate to include a short introduction to both myself and this blog.

One morning recently, I was sitting at work about to really drown in anxiety and fear.  As I often times do, I gave thanks to our Heavenly Father and asked for intercession.  Out of nowhere, literally, my mind said share your prayers with others.  So, here we are….

Here’s the current plan, every day for the next 365 days I’m going to post a prayer on a topic.  It is my hope that the words will help strengthen your relationship with God.  Other than that, there really isn’t a plan so we’ll go where the spirit takes us!

A little about me, I’m in Columbus Ohio, I am dedicated to CrossFit, and I’m relatively new in my journey as a Christian (although, I grew up Catholic and went to Catholic school).  I have two dogs named Cheezy and Duke, who keep me entertained and fill me with love.  Both are rescues, both are pit bulls.

I’d like for this to be interactive, so if you have any specific topics or intentions that you’d like to see here please let me know!  I’m also open to constructive criticism because I want to learn from this experience as well!
